Red & Meth - Two Weeks Later

A few weeks ago, Dj Pick and I went down to Plush Nightclub to watch two of our favourite rappers. These guys ripped it up during the 90's and even early 2000. Everyone listened to them in high school, and we all knew the words to Da Rockwilda. This show was so sick, the way a hip-hop show should be. None of the new age rappers can fuck with these guys, nobody rocks a party like the old school. Wu-Tang Clan still aint nuttin to fuck wit.

Rock The Bells - A Month Later

It's been almost a month since Dj Frisk and I drove out to the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington State. It was about a 5-6 hour drive there (and back) to watch some of hip-hop's legends. On the bill for Seattle was The Pharcyde, De La Soul, Mos Def, Nas and of course Tribe Called Quest! The concert was sick! The Gorge is also the best outdoor concert venue I've ever seen, because it's built into a canyon, you can pretty much see the main stage from ANYWHERE inside the concert grounds. It was definitely worth the drive and camping onsight for this! Here are some pictures.

De La Soul

MC Supernatural (sickest freestyle I ever heard)

Nasty Nas
Dj Green Lantern

Q-Tip and Mos Def

Phife Dawg and Ali

Sick Catch!

This is hands down, one of the best catches I've ever seen. I jacked it from Nation Of Millions

Dj Domination

I realized that I haven't posted many deejay specific articles, so here is the first of many to come. It's a clip of Dj Domination pulling out some body tricks of the likes I've never seen. Big ups to Dj Pick for finding this.

RIP Jay Part II

Here is another song I felt was appropriate given what today is. Live in the Sky by TI featuring Jamie Foxx. It is off his King album and it is dedicated to those he's lost. RIP Blondie.

RIP Jay Louie - The Years Fly By

A year ago Vancouver lost a special person. My colleague and friend Jay Louie was taken from us September 24th of last year. He was the nicest person you'll ever meet. He was also full of energy; Jay was the kind of person who could turn a boring night upside down (usually with a bottle of JD). Which is fitting, because he's best known for being a co-executive of (now debunked) Xtscene promotions (night club promoters) and had been involved in the industry for years.

It was only in the year before his passing that I really got to know him, and I never realized how many people he touched until he left us. It wasn't till his funeral that I realized how many people truly cared for him, and all I can say is that when I pass, I can only hope to have as many people will care for me as Jay had for him.

As this is a music blog, I posted Crossroads by Bone Thugs. Although this might come as a cliche, I don't care, it will forever be a great song. Rest in peace bro.

Hold My Breath - Paper Chase Music Video

This music video is apparently a year old, but it's new to me. In case you don't know who Paper Chase is, he's an underground rapper in Vancouver with, in my opinion, a lot of potential. He's probably the last person you'd expect to be a rapper though, and I would know, because we went to elementary school together. This guy was wearing Nirvana t-shirts and somehow transitioned to hip-hop. Either way, he's made a name for himself in this city. Another reason I posted it is because my cousin, Chris Goldade, worked on the filming of the video (watch the credits at the end of it).

Ryan Leslie - Addiction (2 videos) + Making of the Song

Super-producer Ryan Leslie has finally released videos for his single Addiction. I've also included the video of him creating the song in his studio. This guy blows me away every time he's in the studio. It's a shame that he's still working with Cassie, because her lack of vocal talent is always overshadowed by his production on her songs. I have the feeling that she'll be the next artist to join the Auto-tune fad in her music (i.e. Ciara, Rihanna, Kanye). To be honest, I think that the only reason she's still in the music industry is because she's a pretty, marketable face. Granted...a very, very pretty face.

Addiction - Alternate Version

The Making of Addiction

Ya...she's hot.

Nas - The other virgo

As you might already know, yesterday was my birthday (thanks to the previous post), but what you might not know is that on the 14th was the birthday of one of hip-hop's greatest emcees. To this day I frequently listen to illmatic, which is considered one of the best rap albums ever made. And to add to that, I attended Rock the Bells at the Gorge (outside of Seattle) and witnessed Nas perform several songs from this debut album. So as a tribute to him, his birthday and one of my favourite albums, here is the "10th Anniversary Platinum Series" disc of illmatic (cause I know you already have the original). Enjoy!

T.I. - Hurt

Since TI's new album, Paper Trail, is due out at the end of the month, I began listening to some old TI tracks. I re-discovered this track from TI vs. TIP. It's definitely one of the best songs on the album and guess who produced it? Danja Handz. That guy is ridiculous and is probably one of the most versatile producers out there. I mean, the guy produced half of Britney Spears' Blackout.

New hotness *updated*

A beat I made yesterday. I'm a pretty modest guy, but even I think it's dope.

More Beats

2 beats from a week ago. The first one happened by accident after messing up a previous beat. The second one was something that Goldade started and I finished.

Love Lockdown

A remake of Kanye West's latest single, Love Lockdown.

Timbaland feat. T-Pain - Talk

I heard Timbo play a clip of this track in a club on YouTube a little while back. I've been waiting for it to drop ever since. Once again, Timbo proves why he's one of the best, if not the best producer out there.

We'll Never Forget You, Aaliyah

I know it's a few days since Aug 25th ( the anniversary of her passing), but I thought I'd post the first Aaliyah song I ever heard. I was in grade 8 when it first came out, and I always remembered it because of the "baby" noises in the background.

New Mixtape from Van City's Finest!

Click on either image to download.

Old school joint for y'all

So I was watching an episode of The Office today (funniest show ever)...the one where Michael hosts the Dundie awards and he makes his grand entrance to this song as he tries to act hood haha.

Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover

I'm sure a lot of people in Canada know of Nardwuar and how strange he can be. He's also well known for his depth of knowledge, this interview is no exception. Check out how impressed NERD is with this interview! I think MuchMusic should pay this man more money!

New beats

Some beats I made last week...
