Keri Hilson's newest video featuring Lil Wayne. The song is a banger and was produced by Polow da Don.

Big L and Jay-z Freestyle

This is just sick. Proof that 1. 90's rap is the best and 2. Big L and Jay-z are two of the best rappers. The fact that this is a freestyle puts to SHAME all these so-called rappers today who can't even compare when they had time to actually write rhymes.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five - White Lines

The ORIGINAL conscious rap song, White Lines, about the effects of cocaine. This was especially important in it's time cause the song came out during the crack epidemic in the 80's. However its credited to Grandmaster Flash, he actually has no involvement in the song and never received royalties from the use of his name.

The track below samples the hook from white lines, and is all about white girls. This was the type of track that would play on BET after midnight (along with tip drill).

Geto Boys - Damn it Feels Good to Be a Gangster

This song is probably best known from the printer scene in Office Space. I especially like the knowledge Scarface drops in his first verse. It puts all the ego-tripping gangster wannabes in their place.
"Real gangsta ass niggas never run their fuckin mouths, cause real gangsta ass niggas don't start fights"

And for the hell of it.. my other favourite Scarface song - My Block

Dj's of the Week

These following videos are so sick. Some of the best dj's ever, just showing off! Grandmaster Flash, Kid Kapri, Jazzy Jeff and Dj Premier (second video).

Producer of the Week - Quincy Jones

Quincy Delight Jones is a world renowned composer, musical arranger, trumpeter, conductor and, last but not least, record producer. As a conductor, Jones was part of the band Bossa Nova, which had huge success with its song Soul Bossa Nova, which can be heard as the theme for Mike Myers' Austin Powers movies and was later sampled for Ludacris' song Number One Spot.

As a record producer, Q is best known for producing Michael Jackson's sixth studio album Thriller, which is the highest selling album in history (104 million copies world-wide). Jones previously produced MJ's Off the Wall in 1979 and would later produce his 1987 album Bad.

In addition to working with Michael Jackson, Q has worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Rufus & Chaka Khan, Celine Dion and Ray Charles (a long time friend).

Jones has also composed and arranged the movie scores for numerous movie soundtracks and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Movie Score for the 1967 film In Cold Blood. He was also the first African-American to be musical director/conductor of the Academy Awards ceremony.

In the 50 years Jones been in the music industry, he has earned 79 Grammy nominations, 27 Grammys and a Grammy Legend award in 1991.

Without a doubt, Q is one of the greats of the music industry.

Q-Tip shows some love for the NY Knicks

I dunno if this is played before Knicks home games start at Madison Square Garden, but it should be. Q-tip delivers a pretty solid track to show some support for the franchise that's been terrible for the last 5 years or more. They're off to a decent start this year with the new coach...I hope they do their best not to make Q-tip a liar.

Pope Sean John the first lol

Here's Diddy gettin his Halloween on. Notice the right hand sitting a little low on Cassie's waist...

DJ of the Week - Premier

Dj Premier is, hands down, one of my favourite musicians. He's not a just a DJ, he's also a producer. Not just any producer, he's one of the BEST producers. His music is so distinct, that when you hear a primo beat, you KNOW it immediately.

His production style remains the same with throwback methods from when hip-hop first started. Sampling from old blues records, with stripped down, heaving hitting beats. Another signature of Premier's is the scratching voice samples for the hook.

Premier has worked with some (probably most) of the greatest names in hip-hop, as well as being 1/2 of the legendary Gangstarr. The video below is snippet from the DJ documentary SCRATCH with Premier dropping some education.

Hip-Hop Is Dead

I came across this video on Illdoctrine's website. I love this guy cause he's smart, sarcastic and he genuinely loves hip-hop.

Dirt Off Obama's Shoulders

I found this awesome fan made Obama clip on youtube. It includes the clip of him brushing his shoulders off during his speech in Raleigh North Carolina earlier in April. If a candidate can quote a Jay-Z song on national television and make it look good... he definitely deserves my vote.
