This iPhone app is crazy. I wonder if he put in a mode that you can just play the record normally though, since continually spinning it might get annoying after a while.

Nardwuar vs Janelle Monae
Janelle Monae is one of Bad Boy's newest artists. Her brand of music is...different. She does paint some vivid stories with her lyrics but...i dunno, it sounds like an upbeat alternative rock/punk musical half the time. Puff was quoted as saying that signing her was the biggest thing to happen to Bad Boy...EVER. What about BIG?! For shame Puffy...for shame...

Looping - computer = the needle drop
Q-tip at his best doing 'the needle drop' as he calls it. This is probably what they did back in the day before MPC's were invented. Sick!
Swizz Beatz - When I Step In The Club (video)
I've never even heard this single before, but here's the video. Swizz Beatz rhymes are wack, but he's still a good producer. I don't think that Swizz even makes an appearance in this video. It still has interesting visuals though.

Kanye West ft. Young Jeezy-Amazing (video)
Directed by Hype Williams...how many of Kanye's videos aren't directed by Hype? The visuals in this video are stunning, but there's really not much else to it. I'm tired of 808s and Heartbreak...hurry up and release your next album like you said you would, Kanye...

Jay-Z - Friend Or Foe (from Streets Is Watching)
Check out this sick clip from Streets Is Watching. For those who don't know, Streets Is Watching is a loosely made musical surrounding Jay-Z's early material. It's said to describe the situations he experienced while coming up as a rapper while still hustling (which is the basis of his early material anyways). The story line is told mostly through songs off of his early LP's. The movie is definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of Reasonable Doubt and Vol. 1, which of course, I am. This clip highlights the track Friend or Foe (Reasonable Doubt) and the follow up, Friend Or Foe '98 (Vol. 1) from the Streets movie. These two tracks are some of my favorites and exemplify how much talent S. Carter has. Enjoy, and go watch Streets!

GO CANUCKS!
It's that time of year again, and the Vancouver Canucks' band wagon is almost full. Rock 101 (local radio station) made a parody Lola by Ray Davies, dedicated to the star player, captain and goalie, Roberto Luongo. Enjoy (unless you live in St. Louis, SUCKERS!)
Original Sundays #1
Mixinainteasy is proud to bring to you a new feature to the site called "Original Sundays". Every sunday we will be posting some of the original songs that later went on to be sampled in some of our favorite hip hop tracks.
People have different views about sampling, some people think it's stealing and insist that artists should be original and come up with their own music, while others such as myself find nothing wrong with it as long as the original artist is given due credit. I think sampling is an important part of the creative process and it's a way of keeping the music of the past alive... when I think about it, if modern hip hop producers hadn't sampled all these old musical gems, I probably would have never heard of them. Personally I find it sad nowadays when I see how the radio and TV have made music so brainless that most teenagers you talk to probably won't know what a sample or a producer is and probably think that Britney Spears writes her own music.
So with that being said, here's the first installment of Original Sundays:

The Bloody Beetroots ft. Steve Aoki - Warp 1.9
The Bloody Beetroots feat. Steve Aoki - Warp from Francesco Calabrese
I had the pleasure of seeing Steve Aoki live a few months ago when he came to Vancouver. I went into the show with no big expectations as the videos of him on youtube weren't too exciting, and I wasn't a big fan of the music. Needless to say, I got to the show and was absolutely blown away... never in my life have I seen a DJ with so much energy.
Here is a new video from the Bloody Beetroots a producer duo signed to Aoki's Dim Mak label.

Fatman Scoop - Be Faithful
On Saturday I was at a night club that a few of my friends dj at. One of them was using the video feature of the new Serato and played the club anthem Be Faithful. I watched the video for it and thought... this has to be home made, its too weird (and cheesy) to be a real music video. I'm still not 100% convinced that its legit, but if its not, someone did a good job of making the lips sync up almost perfectly. Eitherway... enjoy the Be Faithful music video.

Kanye is a gayfish

I wonder if Kanye will freak out about this on his blog haha...
Rant #3: Britney, bitch
If you haven't heard...
Britney Spears "performed" (ie-lip-synched) last night in Vancouver. However, part-way through the show, she left the stage and didn't return for over half an hour, leaving the audience to wonder WTF was going on. About 20 min into the "break", a spokesperson announced:
“The building is awfully smoky. It is uncomfortable for everyone on stage, including Ms. Spears. Please extinguish all cigarettes – this is a non-smoking building, and the show will resume when the smoke on the stage is cleared.”
Strange...since the show opened up with a high-production intro involving smoke effects...
After another 20 min or so, Britney did return to "perform" some more songs. At the end of the concert, she did address the audience, or what was left of the audience:
“Drive safe, don’t smoke weed and rock out with your cock out. Peace mother fuckers.”
No one really knows what happened during that 40 min lapse. Some theories include Britney diva-ing out about something stupid, snorting cocaine or hooking up with K-Fed backstage. Many people left during that time and overall, the impression is that the audience was disappointed by the whole performance.
Now, I'm by no means a Britney fan. I support her in no way whatsoever and believe she has next to no talent. I definitely didn't even consider going to her "concert" but from what I've heard so far, this most recent performance only backs up my beliefs about her.
Britney most def didn't deliver what her fans wanted. Yes, we all know that she lip-synchs, but in the past at least she was part of a dazzling spectacle of choreography and lights to sorta make up for it. Rumor has it she barely even danced...
Next, you can't just alienate your audience like that by stopping the show. Whatever happened to professionalism? Or the age-old motto, "the show must go on"? If the smoke really was that bad, then grow a pair and tell the audience to stop yourself...if that was even the problem to begin with...
If she did actually just diva out during the concert, that's even worse. Of all people, she has no right to diva out about anything...seeing as how she's made millions of dollars singing songs that she didn't write or produce with her minimal vocal ability. At least in the past, she was essentially a hot, overpaid dancer. Now she's just plain overpaid. You can't pull that diva shit and expect people to just brush it off. These people paid a lot of money to see you "dance and sing", even if it's wack anyways.
Henceforth, I will be referring to Britney Spears as, more appropriately, Britney Bitch.
I hope that this performance is just another nail in the coffin for Britney Bitch's music career.

Dj Marvel's GZA Opener Set
A few weeks ago I saw GZA at the Commodore in Vancouver. My homie Dj Marvel opened up with a killer old school set. Some of the best in real hiphop mixed live! And recorded too! So I copped the player from his site. For a complete track listing (and to Dj Marvel and the Freshest Kids website) follow the link below. ENJOY!! Cuz I did!

Eminem - Don't Approach Me
Since Henry posted the new Eminem video before I did... I decided to post one of my favourite songs from Xzibit's Restless 2001 album, Don't Approach Me. I actually never knew they made a video until I was flipping through youtube earlier today. Eminem shines so much on this track. This is proof enough he's one of the best ever... in case you didn't already agree with me.
Btw... what was the big deal with 2001 anyways? Chronic 2001... Restless 2001... Eminem dropped 2001 a few times on his MM LP.. did anything exceptionally weird happen in 2001....... September 11th... damn.. it was Aftermath that did it!
However, some people said the 2001 drops were alluding the year Tupac was to come back... (the 7 day.. year.. theory) but we all know that didn't happen. Anyways.. Enjoy.

Just Blaze vs Total Kaos (who?)
The story:
Some southern producer named Total Kaos claimed that Just Blaze and T-Pain jacked his beat for a song called "Sky's the Limit" for the Maino song "All the Above". Just basically goes through his entire process for making this hot song and explains how he didn't jack shit from nobody. Pretty cool to see how a track comes together in JB's studio.
Anyways, I'm behind by dude Just Blaze on this one. A ton of songs sound similar and people stumble across the same chord progressions all the time but only a small fraction of those songs ever get airplay (ie-my last post about The Dream). Also, Just probably wouldn't have lasted 10 years + in the music business if it was his style to just jacking people's stuff. Although he used to be a very sample-heavy producer in the late 90's, his music has changed a lot since then and he has evolved in the process. He arranges the tracks and also writes verses and hooks for many of the songs he's a part of these days so you gotta give him a lotta credit. And he's still one of my favourite producers.
